Sims Pride 2017 Incoming!

It’s that time again! Last year I hosted Sims Pride 2016, a Sims pride homage to our beautiful and diverse Sims and Simmers! After the overwhelmingly positive response to this, it’s time for Sims Pride to return, and I’m hoping to see an even bigger turnout for our “photo parade” this year!

What is Sims Pride?

Sims Pride is a time to highlight LGBTQQIAAPP Sims and Simmers in the community! This homage will be using screencap submissions from the Simmer community of Simselves, Sim story characters, or favorite Sims that would fall in the LGBTQQIAAPP spectrum. I suggest you check out Sims Pride 2016 to get a better idea of the event.

Who can participate?

Sims Pride is all about highlighting Sims of sexual orientation or gender-identity diversity, as well as any and all allies of the LGBTQ+ community. If you have a Sim or Simself that falls within the LGBTQQIAAPP spectrum, I’d love to have them participate! These include the following:

Lesbian – Women that are sexually attracted to other women.

Gay – Men that are sexually attracted to other men. This term can also be used to describe homosexual men and women.

Bisexual – A person that is sexually attracted to both sexes.

Transgendered – A person that has transitioned or is transitioning to the opposite sex, as they were born as the wrong sex/in the wrong body.

Queer – An umbrella term that includes anyone who feels somehow outside of the societal norms in regards to gender or sexuality but feels more comfortable identifying as queer than another orientation.

Questioning – Someone that is questioning their sexual orientation, and are unsure which gender/s (if any) they are attracted to.

Intersex – Someone possessing variations in sex characteristics including chromosomes, gonads, or genitals that do not fit typical binary notions of male or female bodies. Intersex individuals commonly possess both male and female sex characteristics.

Asexual – A person that isn’t sexually attracted to either gender. Demisexuals, Gray Aces, and aromantic, heteroromantic, homoromantic, biromantic, and panromantic asexuals all fall under this umbrella.

Allies – Heterosexuals that support the LGBTQ+ community.

Pansexual – A person that is attracted to a person because of their personality. They do not care what gender they date, including cisgender, transgender, agender, and gender-queer individuals, they care about what is on the inside.

Polyamorous – A person that practices or desires intimate relationships involving more than two people, with the knowledge and consent of everyone involved.

There may be other sexual and gender orientations that fit into this spectrum that are not specifically listed here, but all genders and orientations on the diversity spectrum are welcome!

How do I participate?

If you are interested in having your Simself, any Sims from a story you write, or even just a special Sim from a favorite game save that fit into any of the above descriptions be featured, this is what I am looking for:

  • You may submit a single image, one per submittee.
  • Your image may have as many Sims as you would like featured on it, as long as they all fit into the LGBTQQIAAPP spectrum. It can be an image of your Simself, an image of a favorite couple you have from a story, two Sims from different stories that are LGBTQ+, etc. This is your picture, so if you want to be creative, go for it!
  • Your image can be from any Sims game.
  • You must be okay with your image being self-hosted, resized as needed, or used in composite montages as needed.
  • You do not need to create an original image! If you just want to pick out a favorite picture you have from one of your stories to submit, that is perfectly fine!
  • Please don’t submit an image that would be past a PG-13 rating. (Kissing, snuggling, and cuddling is a-okay!)
  • If you are concerned about spoilers in your story (your character isn’t “out of the closet” yet) but want to participate, consider submitting an image of your Simself! Remember, all Allies are more than welcome, so if you are straight but not narrow, you are more than welcome to take part in Sims Pride!

When is Sims Pride 2017?

Sims Pride 2017 will go up on Sunday, June 25th, 2017.

I will be taking image submissions until Friday, June 23rd, 2017 at midnight Mountain Daylight Time.

Submission Form

You may also submit any image to me directly via e-mail to:

mastressalita at gmail dot com

Please list “Sims Pride” as the subject line and attach your image to the e-mail. Make sure all the information from the submission form is included in the body of your e-mail if you choose to submit this way.

If you use the EA Sims forums, you may also PM your submission to @mastressalita ; again, please include all the information from the above submission form in the body of your private message.

Getting all this information is very important, as I want to make sure each and every submittee is properly credited and their stories linked on the Pride post, and that their Sims are properly identified and their orientations get highlighted with the pride they deserve!

Also, try to keep your chosen image private until the event. While you don’t have to keep your chosen image incognito, I feel there will be more impact when Sims Pride goes live if there is some mystery as to what characters/images have been submitted, and it’ll give everyone something to look forward to!

Submissions must be in by June 23rd. I will not take any past that date!

Thanks to anyone that decides they want to take part in this! If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask in the comments! Please feel free to hit that Reblog button or simply link to this post and to get the word out there if you think you have readers that would be interested in this! Let’s create a really awesome Pride together again this year!

This is a super easy and fun way for any simmer to show support for the LGBTQ+ community. I did it last year and it was a ton of fun. I would highly encourage everyone to participate!

    • I know those feels! I’m that way too, I try to limit myself to a single “long” work at a time, but I do try to explore LGBTQ+ themes in the monthly Short Story Challenge prompts when I get the right ideas (I have one about a child growing up transgender, and another I did for Asexuality Awareness Week). Now I use my Photo Fridays to get to create couples and do little “stories within a single image”. During February I did Couples and had a few diverse couples (a gay couple and an Ace couple), one Friday my transgender Sim returned for Transgender Visibility Day, and this month I’m doing all LGBTQ+ Sims/Couples for my Photo Fridays. Though I do find sometimes I wish I had the time to further explore their stories past a single image! So little time… always so little time…

Done ! I hope it helps . I have questions about the simlit index some things that are no longer true and how to submit the bsides blog?

      • It is better to ask questions about the Stories and Legacies Index over there rather than on my personal blog. The Information page there has a contact form.

Both your stories are already listed. You can look on the Story Listing page under site title, type a keyword into the search box on the side bar of the page, or go to the Subject Search page and click a search term such as author: Simsophonique to bring up all your listings in the index.

If you need to change any information about a current entry in the index, use the submission form on the front page and under “Is this a new entry or are you amending a previous entry?” select “Amendment.”

Thank you for the explanation I am sorry to have bothered you with my question out of the topic but I didn’t understand amendment :( I read everything but I didn’t really get it all. Sometimes it’s happen to me and I am a looser.

You can delete my ask , it’s possible to delete comments on wordpress. No problems it won’t bother me.

Didn’t know about it last year, but submitted for this year. Was hard to pick who to use.

    • I know. Last year I had a few folks that created large group shots so they wouldn’t have to choose, and others just decided they would wait until next year to feature a different set of Sims, heh.
