Update

For those readers that may be wondering where the kitties have been this month, I had to take a short break from my story projects.

I am also the maintainer of the Stories and Legacies Index, a virtual library of Simlit hosted on the Sims forums, and earlier this month, an update to the forums restructured the Creative Corner sections so that the section where this thread was located was deleted. I had to make a choice: to relocate the Stories and Legacies Index thread into a Creative Corner for a specific Sims game — Sims 2, Sims 3, or Sims 4, when the index itself has always accepted entries from any and all Sims games, or move the Stories and Legacies Index off the forums. I made the choice to do the latter, and have spent the last several weeks building a website for the index on WordPress, with the help of CathyTea from Cathy Tea’s Simlit Anthology and MedleyMisty from In the Valley of the Sun. This has taken all my time, and has not left me any time to work on my story projects.

I’d like to announce that the new Stories and Legacies Index is now open and available to the public, so please check it out! You can browse the index for Simlit, perform author, challenge, and subject searches, and submit your own story site to the listing!

I will be on vacation May 24th through May 29th, so I won’t have time to play and produce any story content for the rest of this month (only Teatime Tuesday and Photo Friday will be going up for the rest of this month). Hopefully things will be getting back on track in June. Also look forward to Sims Pride in June! Information about submissions will be forthcoming at the beginning of next month, but until then, feel free to check out last year’s event!

About Mastress Alita

I'm a fulltime librarian, a chronic migraineur, a tea addict, and an avid Simmer that writes SimLit and maintains the Stories and Legacies Index, a link directory of SimLit on Wordpress. Though I obviously love cats, I actually don't own one! (Blame my apartment lease for that!) I do have a charming old cockatiel, Kali, that has been my companion for the last seventeen years!

A big MERCI for keeping our community gathered. I never understood why stories must be categorized by game this idea is so silly ! -at least by genres as a library-
Okay for separating stuffs as cc , houses, and sim at least for creators and downloaders to make the thing easier and not confusing as every other forums does (that how I saw the thing I myself split my cc into games to ease people in ther cc they need for x or y game) but everything related to video and stories shouldn’t be because that’s a creativy that units more than the sims community. Plenty of us (not my case) have friends, family, relatives who follows / watch/ read us no matter if they don’t play the gamen they support our works.

I read that on tumblr this new make me happy !

    • The SimGurus seem to have some very antiquated ideas about Simlit… they don’t seem to realize how creative people are, and that works often can’t easily be categorized by a single game. Many sites contain stories by more than one game, and some stories use more than a single game within one story. Still, there are many threads within the forums that still “don’t have a home” by the new changes… threads that don’t “fit” anywhere because they accept all Sims games, contain mixed content, or are general topics that simply don’t “fit” under a single game, but I don’t foresee the Gurus giving anyone a general Creative Corner back. It’s a sad situation for the forums, and I don’t regret my decision to move the index off of it. I have more freedom for the index now, and can do a lot more with it to make it more like a proper library now!

I know the feeling to he a homeless or an alien in the sims community in general. I have no places in any sub-communities no matter the game I play. I am underrated and doesn’t very appreciated. People are segregationists enough adopting a style ( some examples :maxis-match, mumblr, legalicy, berrysweet, urban, asians, kawaii and plenty of others that they don’t follow you most of the time either read you because they swear only by this style and put the others out of their sight, out of their clubs. Gurus seems that way of thinking is totally perfect. it is convinient for searching easily for stuffs to download or for a specific game for questions but that’s all.

None of the Gurus came to tell us why they choose to keep a creativity corner , in this forum you know what? There is no constructive conversations that can make people change their mind and think by themselves why they are reasons and why we are wrong.

I am the kind of people after a serious conversation in the respect of other opinion I can change my mind , less obtuse . These conversations are rare ! It’s too black or too white other there. No grey-zone ! No growing up mind no help for understanding. and You know what , the most silliest question is why you rephrase what I have said? Okay I rephrase because it was hard to understand you first ! They ignore you being harsh. When you speak an other language you’re leading out of the community and you’ve got no place in the whole community as well.
Nothing else more polite to say ? That I am happy you’ve changed your mind etc.
With these kind of people in the forum the gurus has to manage to, of course they give away to have a general creative corner.

Plus what I hated the most is they don’t recognize the devoted and the serious time you spent on indexing all the stories , to find out people who as me were totally out of it by ignorance and you continue to gather all of us from all other the world. The first time of my life I am welcomed in a sub-community .

The official forum is sad I boycott it now. I don’t know if I’ll be back at that. I am happy you find a place that no one can split on your work and finally be recognized as the whole simlit community as a legit community.

I’m not very active lately, but I just have to add some love for all the work you do on the index. All my love to you and other librarians who make information and creative works available to all :)

    • It is suprising some of the crazy situations us librarians find ourselves in… just a week ago we had major flooding at our library and had to move ranges and ranges of books from our fiction section as quickly as possible to save them from water dripping through the ceiling! In the end… one book was a casaulty, so not bad, out of hundreds of books that had to be moved at a sudden rainstorm!
